It all begins with an idea.
Through endowments and citizen/business donations, we are able to provide scholarships for the children of Irving Fire Department members. Once a year, we open the application process to graduating High School seniors whose parents/guardians are current IFD members. When the application period is over, the Foundation Board redacts personal information, so each student is unable to be identified, and then gives the packet to non-IFD affiliated readers. These readers then use a grading rubric to determine which students are awarded the scholarships.
